File cabinets, in the most simple context, it is an enclosure for drawers in which items are stored, usually to store paper documents in. The two most common forms of filing cabinets are vertical and lateral files. A vertical file cabinet has drawers that extend from the short side (typically 15 inches) of the cabinet while a lateral file cabinet has drawers that extend from the long side (various lengths) of the cabinet.

In most cases, a typical file cabinet is known for it’s utilitarian purposes only (to simply organize your paper work, etc.) and not necessarily for its design. Thus for those who have a particularly keen sense of aesthetics may find it a bit of a challenge to find something that is both functional but also aesthetically pleasing.

While browsing through different file cabinets online, I stumbled onto Poppin. Poppin is a company that offers some great modern design solutions for your work place. From their innovative work space planning to installing and organizing work stations, they also provide some unique furnitures and office supplies for those who happened to appreciate clean modern design. I went through their file cabinet options under their furniture section and their “Stow 2-Drawer File Cabinet” really caught my eye. These stylish cabinets are powder-coated steel construction and it comes in 5 different color schemes; white, light grey, orange, black, and pool blue. After going back and forth on the color scheme, I finally decided to purchase one with all black finish. You can check out more of their file cabinets HERE.

Below is another two-drawer file cabinet option from CB2 called, “tps black 2-drawer filing cabinet.” With its sleek, “mechanic-shop chic” design in black, it certainly delivers on the design side. It also comes in all white finish. You can check out more of CB2’s tps line of office furnitures HERE. Comment below if you prefer one design over the other.
